Opportunity Description: The Research and Development Grant supports SMEs in Uganda to conduct innovative research and development projects. The grant aims to foster technological advancements, product innovation, and process improvements. SMEs can use the funds to conduct feasibility studies, prototype development, and testing of new technologies or products.
Work Description: SMEs applying for the grant should prepare a research proposal outlining their project objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and potential impact. Selected applicants will be required to submit regular progress reports and present their findings at the end of the project. They will also be encouraged to explore opportunities for commercialization of their research outputs.
The Export Readiness Program is designed to assist SMEs in Uganda to enter international markets. It provides training, market research, and mentorship to help businesses become export-ready. Participating SMEs will gain knowledge about export regulations, market opportunities, and strategies for successful global expansion. Work Description: SMEs selected for the program will be required to attend training sessions, develop an export plan, and actively participate in mentoring sessions. They will also have the opportunity to showcase their products or services at international trade fairs.
The Business Growth Grant provides financial assistance to SMEs in Uganda to support their expansion plans. The grant can be used for equipment purchase, marketing campaigns, or hiring additional staff. It aims to stimulate business growth and create employment opportunities. Work Description: Successful applicants will be required to submit a detailed business growth plan outlining how the funds will be utilized. Regular progress reports will need to be provided to the funding organization.
Job Description:
Our fast-growing SME is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Health and Wellness Coach to join our team. As a Health and Wellness Coach, you will be responsible for guiding and empowering our clients to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one health coaching sessions with clients to assess their health goals and develop personalized plans to achieve those goals.
- Provide guidance and support to clients to help them make healthy lifestyle choices, including nutrition, exercise, stress management, and sleep.
- Monitor clients' progress and adjust their plans as needed to ensure they are on track to achieve their health goals.
- Develop and lead group health and wellness workshops, webinars, and other educational events to promote healthy habits.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and communicate regularly with clients to ensure they are engaged and motivated to make progress.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in health sciences, nutrition, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Health and Wellness Coach, with a track record of helping clients achieve their health goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple clients and tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of health and wellness industry trends, best practices, and emerging research.
- Passion for helping others achieve their health and wellness goals.

Funding Information
Individual grants awarded as a result of this APS and submission of a final application is intended to NOT to exceed USD 50,000 for a period of 12 months.
Target Sectors
- Climate-smart, Organic and/or Restorative Agriculture – across the entire value chain with focus on value-added crops.
- Eco-Tourism – nature-based tourism (both accommodation and activities).
- Forestry – sustainable indigenous tree planting, non-timber forest products (e.g., honey, shea nut) and sustainable timber harvesting.
- Wildlife-based Enterprises – game ranching and other ancillary products from wildlife (e.g., crafts).
- Renewable Energy – products/services both in biomass and solar sectors.
- Aquaculture – environmentally-compliant fish farming.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a registered Small and Medium Enterprises/ Organizations company/enterprise (including micro-enterprises or groups of micro-enterprises), associations, cooperatives, and cooperative unions. All Applicants should:
- Be legal persons.
- Be formally constituted at the time of grant award.
- Be compliant with government of Uganda regulations (submit tax compliance certificate)
- Have their principal place of business in Uganda.
- Grant award(s) resulting from this solicitation that are not in-kind will be required to provide a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number at the time of award. If the applicant already has a DUNS number, it should be included in their application. Otherwise, applicants will be expected to get a DUNS number before an award is made. The B4R Activity will assist successful applicants with this process.
- Applicants must display sound management in the form of financial, administrative, and technical policies and procedures and present a system of internal controls that safeguard assets; protect against fraud, waste, and abuse; and support the achievement of program goals and objectives. RTI International will assess this capability prior to awarding a grant. Any falsification of proposal information may result in rejection/cancellation of the award.
